The architect Fernando Mendoza Castells, National Award for Restoration and Conservation of Cultural Property 2008

  • For the complete restoration work of the Collegiate Church of the Divine Savior Seville

National Award for Restoration and Conservation of Cultural Property in 2008 was awarded to Fernando Mendoza Castells for comprehensive restoration work of the Collegiate of the Divine Savior of Seville, placing value on different architectural elements, sculptural and archaeological sites.

The Prize is awarded by the Ministry of Culture and has a budget of 30,000 euros.


The Jury The jury, chaired by the Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Jose Jimenez, has been composed by Domingo Garcia Pozuelo, dean of the College Architects of La Rioja, appointed by the Superior Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain, José María García de Miguel, of the UNESCO-ICOMOS English National Committee of the School of Mines, appointed by the International Council Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), Rocío Bruquetas, restoration of IPCE, designated by the English Group of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, Valerie Magar, Conservation Specialist, International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration Cultural property designated by the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), Manuel Pita Andrade, academician of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, designated by the Royal Academy of History and Fuensanta Nieto, award-winning architect, along with Enrique Sobejano in 2007. Has acted as secretary Anton Castro, deputy director of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain.
